You Have Authority!
Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Luke 10:19
Jesus sent out His disciples in Luke chapter 10 to minister to and heal the people. Verse 17 says, “Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.” Jesus of course already knew the enemy was subject to them. He told His disciples in Luke 10:18 that He saw Satan falling from the sky like lightning, referring to when Satan was kicked out of Heaven (Revelations 12:7-11). Jesus then went on to tell His disciples in Luke 10:19 that they had the same power and authority over Satan.
Deuteronomy 23:14 says, “For the Lord your God walks in the midst of your camp, to deliver you and give your enemies over to you; therefore, your camp shall be holy, that He may see no unclean thing among you, and turn away from you.” Now cross reference this verse with Psalm 34:7 that says, “The angel of the Lord encamps all around those who fear Him, and delivers them.” To fear God according to Proverbs 8:13 is to hate evil. We hate evil by obeying Word of God (Psalm 119:104). So if we are being obedient to God, then He is in our camp and the angels of God are surrounding our camp. If you read Revelations 12:7-11, you will see it was the angels who fought Satan and kicked him out of Heaven. Psalm 103:20 says, “Bless the Lord, you His angels, who excel in strength, who do His word, heeding the voice of His word.” As we speak the word, the angels will perform it. Look at what happened when Jesus spoke the word to Satan in the desert in Matthew 4:10-11. “Then Jesus said to him, “Away with you Satan! For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’” Then the devil left Him, and behold, angels came and ministered to Him.” Jesus exercised the same authority that you have, the angels came, and Satan left.
