Binding (Forbidding) and Loosing (Allowing)

And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Matthew 16:19

When God created man, He gave dominion over the earth and everything in it to man (Genesis 1:26-28, Psalm 115:16).  When Adam sinned in the garden, Adam relinquished his authority to Satan.  Therefore, Satan is considered the ‘god’ of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4, John 8:44).  Because control was given to man and God is just, He couldn’t just take it back from Satan.  Numbers 23:19 says that God is not a man that He should lie….  He keeps His Word.  The control/authority had to be won back by a man.  That is why Jesus came to the earth in the flesh as a man to take control back from Satan (1 John 3:8b).   Because of Jesus’ sacrifice we can now rule and reign on the earth as kings (Romans 5:17) if we exercise the authority “in Jesus name” that God gave to us.

Jesus tells us that it is God’s desire and it is possible to bring Heaven to Earth in Matthew 6:10.  “Your kingdom come.  Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.”  We should be declaring that daily over our lives.  When we get to Heaven, we will not be bound with sickness, poverty, anger, unforgiveness, etc..  He wants us to bring that same victory from Heaven to Earth today.  We do that by coming into agreement with His Word and speaking it over our lives (Matt 18:19).  Jesus said in Matthew 16:19 that He was giving us the keys of the Kingdom.  Those keys He went on to say are binding (forbidding) and loosing (allowing).  This is simply binding the power of the enemy and loosing the power and plan of God in your life (3 John 2).  When a police officer arrests someone, he puts handcuffs on his hands.  He then will put him in jail.  Keys are used in both cases.  In the spiritual realm the binding and loosing keys can be used for good or evil. We bind the enemy and loose the power of God, or we loose the power of the enemy by choosing not to forgive, by accepting poverty or sickness, etc… Once we accept these things we are bound and on the road to letting Satan wreak destruction in our lives (1 Peter 5:8).  Agree with God and use the keys Jesus gave you to bring Heaven to Earth!
