May 2018 Words of Life (Week 3)

You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Psalm 16:11

The Word says that God has a plan for every one of us (Jeremiah 29:11).  In order for us to know the plan He has for us, we must choose to follow Christ (John 3:16), then daily seek Him through His Word (Psalm 119:105).  The plan He has for us requires us to stay on a narrow path (Matthew 7:13), which He outlines in His Word and reveals to us by His Holy Spirit.  As we walk and stay on the path, He provides everything we need in life (Philippians 4:19 and Psalm 84:11).

If at any time we get off the path, we must acknowledge our disobedience, ask for forgiveness (1 John 1:9), get back on the path and move forward with His guidance.  It is important to realize that when we choose to get off the path, we will have to face the consequences of our choices/decisions.  If we picture it in the form of an interstate, if we sin and take an offramp, then repent and take an onramp, we have missed a section of God’s path for our lives.  However, when we ask for forgiveness, we give Him the opportunity and the right to turn those things around for good (Romans 8:28).  But we do not want to miss God’s perfect plan for our lives.  So, stay on the path by walking in obedience to His Word.  Then we will hear Him say at the end of your lives, “Well done, good and faithful servant.”  (Matthew 25:23)
