But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God. 1 Corinthians 2:10
Isaiah 55:8-9 says, “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are My ways higher than your ways, and My thoughts than your thoughts.” Many people misuse this verse by saying we cannot know what the will of the Lord is, or we cannot know his ways because they are higher than ours. We must understand that this is talking about our natural thoughts and ways. These are the thoughts and ways we are to crucify according to Galatians 5:24. Psalm 25:9 says that if we humble ourselves, God will teach us His ways. Even though His ways are higher, He will teach us His ways and according to 1 Cor 2:16 we should be declaring that we have the mind of Christ.
Another verse that is misused with Isaiah 55:8-9 is 1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written: “Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.” If you go on to read the next verse, you will see that God reveals those things to us though His Spirit, the Holy Spirit. John 16:13 says that the Holy Spirit will guide us into ALL truth, not just part of the truth. It also says whatever the Holy Spirit hears from the Father, the Holy Spirit will speak to us and will tell us of things to come. Picture it this way, hold your index finger up in the air. Now bend it. Your brain had the thought to move your index finger and sent the message for your finger to bend. In this analogy, your brain would be God and you would be the index finger. Your thoughts are higher than the thoughts of your finger. Your brain may have the thought to move your thumb, but it doesn’t send that thought to your index finger. It only sends what is needed of your index finger. God is the same. His thoughts are higher, but He will reveal to you what you need to know by the Holy Spirit.
