Our 2018 Planning Workshop is this Saturday, January 27th from 8 AM – 12 PM. This workshop will be at the Colorado Grill event room, which is next door to the actual restaurant. The address is 2747 U.S. 31W in White House, TN 37188. Lunch will be provided after the workshop. Please invite family and friends. There is an old saying, “If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail!” Psalm 50:23b says, “He who orders his way aright [who prepares the way that I may show him], to him I will demonstrate the salvation of God.”
I am the bread of life. John 6:35
Bread is mentioned hundreds of times (~360) in the Bible . In the New Testament Jesus used bread to reference His body when taking communion (Luke 22:19-20 and 1 Corinthians 11:24). Jesus referenced bread several times in John 6. Verses 32b-33 say, “My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” Then Jesus said in Verse 35, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.” Then in verse 51 He said, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever.” Jesus told us how to pray saying, “Give us this day our daily bread” in Matthew 6:11. Deuteronomy 8:3 and Matthew 4:4 says, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.” We need the true, living, bread!
Imagine yourself walking down the aisles of your grocery store. A Wal-Mart Supercenter carries an average of 142,000 different items. Let’s say the only thing you need is bread. Everything else is just a distraction to keep you away from the bread. Is this sounding like the world yet? We need God’s Word! However, the enemy puts so many other things in our path to distract us and pull us away from the Word. Isaiah 55:2a says, “Why do you spend money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy?” Do not let the flashy things on the endcaps and at the checkout line fool you. You only need the Word / Bread. The enemy uses imitations that seem like they are the Word or God. In a grocery store these might be items that have a portion of bread in them, but they have been diluted with other items. It is important that you get the unadulterated Word of God and not a watered-down imitation! You do this by reading your Bible. Do not substitute the Word of God with devotions, sermons, teachings, books, or praise and worship music. There is no substitute for reading God’s Word! God wants to speak directly to you, not through someone else.
