Tune Your Ears to Wisdom (God)

Tune your ear to wisdom… Proverbs 2:2

John G. Lake was driving up a winding mountain road.  The Holy Spirit spoke to him and told him to cross over to the other side of the road and stop.  He obeyed, and then saw a truck hauling logs come around the curve sliding sideways.  The driver had lost control of the truck.  If John had stayed in his lane he would have been knocked off the mountain and fell over 100 feet down.  Catherine Marshall shares a similar testimony of God speaking to her friend.  The Holy Spirit told her to get off a plane.  She obeyed and found out later that the plane crashed.   News reporters later asked why she got off the plane.  Her response was that God told her to get off the plane.  The reporters then asked if God did not love the other people.  She said that God loves them too, but they weren’t listening.

Jeremiah 6:10a addresses this very issue, “To whom shall I speak and give warning, that they may hear?  Indeed, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot give heed.”  (See also Acts 7:51.)  This uncircumcised ear is not a physical defect.  It simply comes from not obeying what God has told you or not listening to Him.  Proverbs 2:1-2 (NLT) says that we are to treasure the Word and tune our ears to wisdom.  Verses 6 and 7 say that wisdom, knowledge, and understanding come from the Lord’s mouth.  We can only receive that wisdom if we are tuned in and listening to His voice.  Radio stations transmit 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  However, you will only hear that radio station if you have your radio turned on and tuned to that station.  Just because you don’t hear God, doesn’t mean He isn’t speaking.  We must humble ourselves, tune out the world, and tune in to God.  Don’t be fooled into thinking you can listen to God and the world.  You can’t listen to 2 radio stations at one time either.  Choose today to listen to God.  When you hear God’s voice, you must obey to continue hearing His voice.  If you don’t, you are tuning God out and opening yourself up to deception (James 1:22).
