Words of Life

Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law (Word).  Proverbs 29:18

Why do most churches not walk in the blessings of God?  It is obvious to see that many churches and pastors have cast off their restraints by violating the Word of God in many areas.  If they have cast off restraints, then they are not receiving revelation from the Lord (Proverbs 29:18).  The revelation comes from the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 2:10).  However, most churches have rejected the baptism of the Holy Spirit by saying it isn’t for today, we received it when we got saved, it is of the devil, etc.  Then many of the church members go along with these teachings without searching the truth out for themselves in God’s Word.  We are not to follow the traditions of men.  Jesus addressed this issue in Mark 7 when the Pharisees asked Jesus why the disciples did not walk according to the tradition of the elders.  Jesus said in verse 8 that the Pharisees were “laying aside the commandment (Word) of God to hold the traditions of men.”  Jesus then stated in verse 13 that the Pharisees were “making the Word of God of no effect through their tradition which they have handed down.”  The Pharisees voided the power of God in their lives through their own actions of disobedience to the Word.  We can do the same.

Do not follow someone else’s traditions or teachings about the Holy Spirit or anything for that matter.  Search the truth out in God’s Word.  Ephesians 5:17-18 says, “Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit.”  If you are not sure, ask the Lord to reveal truth to you.  Ask Him if there is more, and He will show you.  Jeremiah 29:12-13 says, “Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.”  You will not miss God if you are truly seeking the truth.  He will guide you and teach you His way if you humble yourself (Psalm 25:9).
