Lesson 13 Day 5

Don’t Let Satan Have a Power Play!

…We should be called children of God! 1 John 3:1

Jesus said in John 8:41, “You do the deeds of your father.”  He then went on to say in verse 44a, “You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do.”  So, the question arises, who is your father?  Is it the devil or is it God?    We should be children of God according to 1 John 3:1. However, this does not mean we are children of God.  You are either with God or against Him.  Now you may think, I am with God, but not doing everything He has called me to do.  Picture a 6 on 6 hockey game with a blue team and a red team.  If one of the red players chooses to sit down on the bench and rest, which team does that help?  It helps the blue team, because now they have 6 players to the red teams 5.  Hockey calls this a power play.  Satan tells us we are not doing anything wrong.  However, we are allowing Satan to go on a power play to steal, kill, and destroy in our lives (John 10:10).

You cannot play on both sides!  1 Corinthians 10:21 says, “You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons; you cannot partake of the Lord’s table and of the table of demons.”  Matthew 6:24a says, “No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other.”  You cannot ride the fence or stay in a supposed gray area.  Judas walked with God and then walked with the enemy.  It did not end well for him.  You might say, well that was Judas.  I am not Judas.  How about we look at someone else you know that sat on the wall and did not choose sides, Humpty Dumpty!  He had a great fall.  All the king’s horses and all the king’s men could not put Humpty together again.  Psalm 33:16-17 says that a king is not saved by his men or his horses.  We are saved/protected when we choose to walk with God and obey His word.  2 Corinthians 6:17a,18 says, “So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate yourselves from them, says the Lord,… and I will be a Father to you, and you shall be My sons and daughters, says the Lord Almighty.”  Separate yourself from sin and walk with your Father, God!

Jude 1:20 – But you, beloved, building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit,

1 Corinthians 14:15-17 –15 What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. 16 Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say? 17 For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified.

Bonus: 1 Corinthians 12:7-11 But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all:for to one is given the word of wisdom through the Spirit, to another the word of knowledge through the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by ]the same Spirit, 10 to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another different kinds of tongues, to another the interpretation of tongues. 11 But one and the same Spirit works all these things, distributing to each one individually as He wills.
